The first walls were put up on 9/19/05. Happy birthday Mary and Donna. Tony and Alfonso here are the main men.

The upslope wall of the living space. The trench is for the drainage system which handles the downhill runoff.

The footprint of the living area. The floor joists for the lower floor (living room, dining room and kitchen) will sit on top of this frame.

Digging them digging the footing for the upper retaining wall.

Ho - call the city and the engineers! They dug into this 16" drainage pipe in the left of the lot. Luckily, there is (apparently)
no water running into it now. It was used for hillside drainage before the slide in 1968,
when they diverted water from this pipe to a different drainage system somewhere above our lot.

The next day: Miguel, Enrique. Antonoio and Alfonso. We brought burritos from the local taqueria in our San Francisco neighborhood and had lunch with the crew. They gave the burritos first-class ratings.

The sewage pump will be buried in sand on this side. A future bedroom and stairway on the other side of center?

Plywood attached to the sheer walls.

The corner where the two retaining walls meet, close to the street. A lot more concrete to be poured. This will be the eastern edge of the driveway.

The west view of the retaining wall preparation.

Flooring lumber has arrived.
